To obtain maximum benefit from this class, your rifle should be fitted with a 2-point sling and a red-dot sight, or other optic.
This class focuses on learning the skills needed to defend yourself and your loved ones in your home with your AR-15 rifle. It is taught within 10 - 21 feet distances, representative of many homes. 

This is a live-fire class that is taught almost entirely on the range. It uses kinestnetic alignment, and the principle of balancing speed and precision, to achieve defensive accuracy, with maximum efficiency.

After a safety and medical briefing, we introduce the AR-15 platform and its flexibility. We review how to take-down and reassemble the AR-15, including the bolt-carrier group. We also explain the use of the 2-point sling.

Moving to the live-fire range, we work on the use of the mechanical safety, points of contact, mechanical offset, and balancing speed and precision to obtain optimal defensive accuracy. The class progresses through multiple drills that include emergency reloading and addressing multiple targets

At the end of the class, you will be comfortable and competent with your AR-15 as a home-defense firearm and able to work with it in the context of a critical dynamic incident.

You will need eye and ear protection,  your AR-15 rifle or equivalent, at least two (preferably three) magazines and 300-400 rounds of ammunition. PA-legal magazines may be available for use at the range, but these *CAN NOT* be taken back into NJ or other restrictive States. The follow-up for our AR-15 Fundamentals  1 (Intro to AR15), TopGun Academy’s AR-15 Fundaments II course is more than just “more of the same.” Instead, we help you get your AR-15 set up, sighted in, and tested out. You will not only improve on existing skills, but you will learn new ones and how to use those skills at urban combat distances.

Guardian Defensive Carbine

This classroom portion of this course covers the history of the AR15, loading/unloading/clearing, maintenance and cleaning, accessorizing, shooting basics, and then expands the coursework by transitioning to the range. You will learn basic AR15 operation in the context of personal protection in the home. Also includes safety rules and procedures, proper stance, kinesthetic alignment, engaging your target with a balance of speed and precision, mechanical offset, and reloading. Fee includes 4 hours of classroom and 4 hours of range time. Requirements: two-point sling, 250 rounds, minimum two magazines. Optics/sights zeroed at 50 yards prior to class is preferred. Cost includes range fees.

 AR-15 Maintenance and Cleaning

USCCA Certified Instructors teach the “Getting Started With The AR-15”. This hands-on discovery and introduction to the AR-15 will highlight the history and popularity of the AR-15, its components, features, and functions, an overview of cleaning and maintenance, accessorizing the AR-15, and basics about using the AR-15 for home defense.

This course is restricted to AR-15 platform firearms only. Instructors will assist students with hands-on disassembling, reassembling, cleaning, preventative maintenance, and accessorizing AR-15s. Students are encouraged to bring their AR-15 with one magazine to class. 

*This course is classroom-only and does not have a live fire shooting component.*
